Divorce

Are you facing a divorce? Divorce affects a family for many years into the future. A person going through a divorce needs an attorney with experience.  You may face issues affecting children, property, maintenance, retirement and debts. We have successfully represented numerous clients in divorce cases.  These are cases involving custody disputes, small businesses, maintenance, large assets and various other issues.

Uncontested Divorce

There can be multiple steps in the divorce process in the courts depending on your situation.  In some cases, you may be in complete agreement right off the bat.  We call those cases uncontested divorces.  Our first job in an uncontested case is to advise our clients of what is in their best interest, legally.  Secondly,  we expertly prepare the documents needed to complete the divorce and transfer property. Lastly, we submit the documents to the judge.  You will likely not need to ever step foot in the courtroom.

Contested Divorce

More commonly, there is not an agreement from the get go.  We call that kind of case a contested divorce.  Depending on your situation, there may be several steps to divorce.  You may go through mediation, discovery, settlement negotiations, a Guardian Ad Litem and trial.  First we advise you and work with you to develop the best strategy for your case based on what is most important to you. Next, we discover the information to allow you to make informed decisions about your family and your finances.  Finally, we want to obtain a settlement you are happy with or effectively present your case to the judge in a trial.  We have a proven track record of success at both.

It is important that you choose an experienced and knowledgeable attorney to represent you in your case. Contact Hicks & Spector LLC to schedule an initial consultation to discuss your case.
